Little Wins This Week #12

Little Wins This Week is about remembering that little things add up to make a big difference. It is about counting small blessings, however insignificant they may seem. Little Wins is about being mindful, staying positive and making each day count.

Little Wins took a break last week because we were away enjoying a well-deserved break at Center Parcs. We went to the one in Sherwood Forest this time and no, I will not be blogging about ways to save money on your Center Parcs break.
For honestly, there is very little you can do to save money at Center Parcs apart from taking your own bikes, going during term-time and taking an entire supermarket food shop with you. If, like us, you rent bikes, go during school holidays and choose to shop at the on-site supermarket or eat out, be ready to spend a fair bit of money. That said, the fabulous indoor heated sub-tropical swimming paradise more than makes up for it.

So the Win This Week was getting away from it all and enjoying time together as a family, something we haven’t done in a very long time. M and I reconnected over glasses of wine, J improved his water confidence and we bonded over breathless bike rides. I really cannot put a price on that.

The other Win This Week was when I went out for a 15 mile bicycle ride. I averaged 11.5 miles/hour. Seeing that I averaged 10.5 mph through all of last year, I take this as a positive. The new road bike seems to be making a difference. I can only hope my time gets better over the coming few months as I train for the big one this summer!

We had a day of glorious spring sunshine last week and I managed to do a spot of gardening. Our garden is in dire need of organisation and care, and I have decided to tackle it one task at a time. This week, it was an overgrown and unkempt patch around the broken bird-feeder - the upright variety that came crashing down in a deluge of rain. So we pulled it out and cleared the surrounding area, ready for planting. Lots of dainty forget-me-nots have taken residence in our garden. I decided to replant some of these in the newly cleared patch. The rest will become home to sunflowers that J wants to plant. They are growing in little pots on a windowsill for now, waiting for persistent warmth before they go to their forever homes.

The rest of the Easter break was spent meeting friends, eating lots of chocolate and days out with kids. It is back to the grind from tomorrow. Let’s hope the spring sunshine brings some continued warmth and cheer.

These are my Little Wins This Week. What have yours been?
