Last week we celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights. It meant the house was in need of a good, thorough clean and gave me the perfect opportunity to put the new Bissell PowerGlide Cordless Vacuum Cleaner through its paces.
Check out how I got on unboxing and assembling this new
Bissell vacuum cleaner. It is not often that I am in charge of assembling any
new piece of equipment, so the video might make entertaining viewing!
Disclosure: I was sent a Bissell PowerGlide Cordless Vacuum Cleaner for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.
Now, what is it that makes this latest from the Bissell
stables so special? Well, it is cordless. It has a rechargeable lithium ion battery that gets fully charged in a couple of hours. The charge lasts for 45 minutes giving you more than enough time to do a thorough
clean around the house.
Once out of its box, I put the battery to charge. Once the
charging light had turned from red to green, I inserted the battery into the
battery housing unit on the vacuum and was ready to give it a test drive.
All the switches that you will need during routine operation
are conveniently located at the top of the canister. You have the on-off switch
and the button that operates the PowerBrush. And there is the Power Mode button
that lets you choose between high and low power modes.
I started on normal power with the power brush switched off
for our laminate flooring. It was a breeze to guide this Bissell around, thanks
to the swivel steering that made it easy to steer and manoeuvre around those
pesky corners.
Laminate done, it was time to switch to high power and get
the power brush out to tackle the living room rug. Now this is where most of
the daily action is. Being high pile, it hides all sorts from crumbs of food to
scraps of paper. This was the real test, and I have to say, this BISSELL
PowerGlide® Cordless Vacuum Cleaner came up trumps. The collection in the dirt
container was proof. I don’t have a ‘before’ and ‘after’ shot – it would have
been far too embarrassing, so you will have to take my word for it.
This Bissell PowerGlide comes with an easy to lift-off
canister that makes it portable. It is powerful yet lightweight. A press of a
button and a tug on the handle allowed me to ease the canister off the brush
unit. The handle release button got the extension tube out of the body. I
attached the crevice brush to its end and remembered to change the diverter
switch to redirect the suction to the vacuum hose before embarking on my
mission to successfully capture every lingering cobweb from around the house.
And get behind the sofa and television cabinet. Something I hadn’t done in a
very, very long time.
Being lightweight meant I was able to clean the stairs with
ease, one hand holding the canister, the other guiding the extension tube. And
it was back to the power brush, this time on low power mode, to tackle all the
carpeted floors upstairs.
This was my first time trying a cordless vacuum cleaner for
a house clean, and I am pretty impressed with all that Bissell has to offer. It
really is powerful, even when tackling those high traffic areas. You wouldn’t
have thought that of something that is so lightweight, portable and cordless. If
you have had enough of wires trailing behind you as you vacuum around the house, perhaps it is time to give the Bissell PowerGlide a try.

I am in desperate need for a cordless vacuum. I love in a townhouse so the stairs finish me off during hoovering! I didn't even know Bissell did one. It looks great and I love the fact that it's lightweight x
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great, I'd love to give it a try. I love my hetty hoover but it is quite heavy x
ReplyDeleteWeirdly enough my vaccuum cleaner died this week and we're on the look out for a new one. I like the idea of a cordless but iften wondered if they are powerful enough.
ReplyDeleteLooks good. We have 2 Dyson in the house. One animal one for upstairs to get rid of everything and a cordless one downstairs that you can charge. Both brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI am liking the sound of this vacuum cleaner. We have laminate floors and rugs, so this would be great for us.
