Craft Time Mosaics Mini by Brainstorm

One week into the summer holidays and I am still waiting for the sun to shine and me to stop wearing a woolly jumper. No, I mean it. A nasty cold and no warming sunshine means I feel as miserable as if it was the middle of January.

With one difference. School is out, J is at home and I have to think of ways to keep him entertained. Creating has always been our strong point, so these cute Craft Time Mosaics Mini by Brainstorm fit the bill perfectly.

Each mosaic mini has a picture printed on a thick piece of sturdy card and with over 200 sparkly self-adhesive stickers. We got a dolphin and unicorn, but there is a pony, kitten, dragon and fish available as well. The picture is marked out with tiny colour-coded squares. All you have to do is peel back a shiny sticker and stick it in the appropriate square.

This may sound easy, but each square is tiny, just a few millimetres across. So the mosaic ends up becoming a dexterity challenge. But the sparkle and shine means the child will persevere and want to finish the mosaic.

J has spent a couple of afternoons patiently peeling back glitter squares and completing first the dolphin and then the unicorn. I love how pretty the finished product appears. Next task is to put these finished mosaics to good use. They will look pretty in a picture frame, and if you get your child to initial them, will make little personalised presents for family and friends.

I also believe these mosaics minis will be perfect for road trips and air travel with kids, in short, anywhere you are likely to end up with restless kids. They are small enough to fit easily into a handbag or backpack and light enough that they will not add to any luggage allowance. They will also make fantastic party bag fillers.
