Make That Start!

The story goes something like this
Of a person that I knew
Who sat on the sofa every day
Wondering what to do...

Make that Start!

The best strategy going forward
The best plan to make
Thinking all the time about
The best road to take.

Pondering over the journey
How will it be in the end
When will things get done
Will broken pieces mend.

Precise in each decision
Checking every source
Meticulous in method
Charting the perfect course.

Drawing up an action plan
And a back-up to boot
Leaving nothing to chance
Was not a slovenly coot.

The planning carried on from
Morning to end of the day
Screens always switched on
So nothing could go awry.

Days went by, targets set
Perfect plans laid in place
Tomorrow is when it began
That race to reach success.

Tomorrow came and went
The race never began
There was one goal forgotten
That needed another plan.

And so it carried on
Day after dreary day
Something always amiss
In a near-perfect play.

Till another came by
And landed a kick
That, and words to the effect,
“Stop being so thick!”

Buckle up and do it
You are awfully smart
Procrastination is folly
Get going, make a start!

That is exactly what I intend to do. Make that start with my creative writing.
The time has come to stop thinking about wanting to write and start writing.
Okay, so not every piece will end up rhyming. Some might not be readable at all. The point is, if I don’t write it down, I will never really know, will I?

Linking up with the lovely Sara and The Prompt.

  2. Yes, this! I do this all the time, and procrastination is the worst. It paralyses. When I looked back at last year my biggest take away was that I need to spend less time thinking about it, and just write! I look forward to seeing where this year takes you. Thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt. Wishing you a very Happy New Year and wonderful things for 2017 xx

    1. Thanks, Sara. I have been facing the same problem. Thinking too much, doing very little. Hoping to make a change now x

  3. Totally agreed on all of this. I have been procrastinating far too much at times. I intend to make a change on that this year - after I have had my tea! ;) #ThePrompt
