The Itty Bittys first arrived in the UK late last year and we loved reviewing them on the blog. These cute, collectable little things by Hallmark are now featuring some much-loved characters from Star Wars. Take a look at my Rey, C-3PO, Storm Trooper and BB-8 Itty Bittys. Could they be any cuter? And they fit nicely in the palm of my hand.

My son is nearly 5 and we had never taken him to visit an art museum before now. He has been to theatre shows and he has visited war and science museums. He has always exhibited remarkable patience and curiosity on these occasions, and been full of questions about everything.
I was however, a tiny bit sceptical about how well he would receive art. Would he find it interesting? Or is art appreciation too much to ask of a small child?
I need not have worried at all, as our recent visit to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam proved.

I have been on a bit of a blogging sabbatical these last couple of weeks for reasons beyond my control. I was away on a family holiday to Amsterdam to begin with. I returned home to a broken boiler, a dead car battery and a shower that refuses to dispense hot water. What with trying to call gas engineers and sort out hot water, I was in no frame of mind to blog. Hence the enforced sabbatical.

Like quite a few mothers I know, I too have had trouble with a bad back that seems to be related to parenthood.
I was lucky in that I was not bothered at all by any sort of back ache throughout my pregnancy except towards the very end. Labour pains, contrary to all popular belief, can completely circumvent the abdomen and stay entirely limited to the lower back.
None of the many pregnancy books I read, classes I attended, nor the internet in all its wisdom, had warned me about this. I found out entirely by accident, having put the back ache and the upset stomach to a giant pizza I had eaten the night before. Turns out, I was twelve hours into labour with my first and only child. And if it weren’t for the timely intervention of an experienced friend, I would have ended up giving birth in my front room.

After a very busy month of crafting last month, what with making two dragon-themed Bostik crafts (a fun dragon mask and a pop-up dragon's den, in case you missed them), an Easter hat and catching up with my Sky Blanket project, J and I were ready to take it easy this month. This month’s Bostik craft box and challenge were just perfect for us.

This must be a phase 4 year old boys go through (and perhaps girls as well), but all pretend play in the C-house at the moment is to do with, “Die!” Or “Dead!” Or kill, eat, bite, you get the drift. Whether it is fire-breathing dragons and knights or Star Wars or monsters, there is a lot of gore involved, much to my chagrin. M seems quite nonchalant about the situation, and more often than not, encourages the boisterous behaviour by being party to it. Talk about boys being boys.
So J has acquired a sword, a light sabre and a T-rex. Schleich have recently added to their collection of wild life sets, and he now has a set of scary sharks and a lioness to add to his ‘Die-Attack-Eat’ toys.
