Dubai Dreams

This is my wishlist of 5 family-friendly things we would like to experience in Dubai:

  1. Relax on the pristine sandy beaches
  2. An encounter with dolphins at Dolphin Bay
  3. Visit the observation deck of Burj Khalifa and look down upon the world
  4. Go on a desert safari and roll down a sand dune
  5. Enjoy traditional delicacies at the Arabian Tea House after a visit to Old Dubai

Dubai Dreams

Oh, to live the Dubai Dream
Of golden beaches and
A sparkling blue sea
So much to do and
So much to see
Fun for all the family.

Oh, to live the Dubai Dream
Some things come for free
Like running on the beach or
Rolling down a sand dune
Who says holidays have to
Cost a fortune?

Oh, to live the Dubai Dream
Atop the majestic Burj Khalifa
A marvel of modern engineering
Soaring high into the skies
Look upon a breathtaking vista.

Oh, to live the Dubai Dream
To Dolphin Bay we shall venture
Up close with the dolphins
An encounter of a lifetime
To meet these amazing creatures.

Oh, to live the Dubai Dream
Desert dunes and camel rides
An adrenalin rush
In a four-wheeled drive
We lead an adventurous life.

Oh, to live the Dubai Dream
A visit to the Arabian Tea House
Over 100 teas and
An array of tasty treats
Where past meets present
In a heritage retreat.

Oh, to live the Dubai Dream
Family travel is learning through fun,
Cherish experiences, expand horizons,
Make memories, enrich young minds,
Soak in the rich culture and tradition.

Wouldn't it be really nice
To visit this desert paradise?
I wish I could win
This chance of a lifetime
To live the Dubai Dream!

  1. I think Dubai is a dream destination for a family - love the idea of rolling down a sand dune too! My crazy lot would love that and it wouldn't make me sneeze like it does when we roll down a grassy hill here!

    Good luck with your entry

  2. From the sand of the beach the sand of the desert, Dubai has such fun for all the family. I can see my son rolling down and dunes while we eat and soak up the atmosphere. Dubai would really be so much fun, with something for everyone.

  3. What a great little poem. Dubai is definitely the sort of place that would have you singing from the rooftops! Like you I would love to visit Dolphin Bay, but you have also made me want to visit a tea house. A cup of tea is always a good idea, no matter where in the world one might be!
Visiting a Bedouin camp on a desert safari would also be amazing, and come high on my list.
Good luck with your entry. #DBXDreams

  4. Rolling down a sand dune sounds tremendous fun! I'd also like to take a yoga class with Jessica Olie, visit the Burj Khalifa and have look around a Dubai shopping mall.

  5. What a lovely poem - it has certainly whisked me off to more exotic climates than my home in Northumberland (where it is currently raining).

Imagine working your way through 100 Arabian teas.....that would be an experience!

  6. Lovely verse for a lovely destination. Totally unique and perfect for families. Good luck :)

  7. Lovely poem and wishing you the best of luck in the competition

  8. Yea. I think I will be going to Dubai this Christmas. Can't wait.

  9. Good Luck with the competition great poem.

  10. Such a nice poem, good luck I hope all your dreams do come true! X

  11. Swimming with dolphins is on my list too, it would be totally amazing. x

  12. You will be able to live your dream one day hun! I would love to swim with dolphins x

  13. D for dreams. D for Dubai... I have not had many chances to travel abroad. Well one to be exact when I flew to US via Dubai and whatever little I saw at the airport stayed with me. My sisters have visited Dubai and the pics they shared made me want to see Dubai all the more. It is a destination that my husband and I want to be at.... our dream...

  14. Oh to live the Dubai Dream too! Such a lovely country. I would love to visit old Duabi and go and see the sand dunes. You get an amazing view from the Burj Khalifa but it really does play with perspective. Huge skyscrapers seem so small. I was shocked that you couldn't see the palm but that is too far away. So many things I want to go back and do in Dubai, I am now dreaming about going back!

  15. Such a fantastic poem and a visit to an Arabian tea house would be amazing x

  16. I have seen Dubai through the windows at the airport and I would love to visit it one day. Good luck with the competition

  17. I've read so much recently about how Dubai is such a great place for a family holiday. I had no idea. It's now on the wish list!

  18. What a lovely poem, I think that Dubai sounds like the most magical place for a family holiday as it has something for everyone. I have a teen and two toddlers and find it so hard keeping them both entertained at the same time but I think that in Dubai I would manage it as they would both adore the water park and aquariaum. I think the dolphin bay would be the most magical experience ever for the whole family, certainly a memory that will never be forgotten. Good luck xx

  19. I love your poem, what a great entry. Your ideas are spot on too. I would love to do everything you have mentioned on the list. Going to the top of the Burj Khalifa and enjoying the stunning view would be a must for us. The pictures would be stunning. I would love to visit the beaches, the kids love playing on the sand and in the water. They would have to see the water parks too, and I would love to see the faces when we told them they could swim with the dolphins. It would make their day I think. I'm totally sold on the idea of a desert safari too. Good luck with your entry, I have my fingers crossed for both of us!

  20. Dubai looks simply amazing. So much to do, so many different worlds all wrapped up in one gorgeous place. Looking at what Dubai has to offer, I've been really impressed by the range of family-friendly options - theme parks, indoor fun sessions, skate parks - as well as sports, stunning beaches, and entertainment.

What I hadn't realised was how much variety there is in Dubai in terms of food and culture. Our son is a huge foodie, despite being only 10, and would love visiting some of the restaurants and tasting the new flavours.

As a family we would love to be able to visit Dubai, and experience just a taste of what is on offer. Our elder son loves nature, so would enjoy the different wildlife on show. And dad... well, quad-biking in the sand dunes would suit him perfectly. As for mum... of course Dubai is a shopper's paradise! And I'm sure we would all enjoy a tour of historic Dubai, as well as the many museums. There truly is something for everyone.

The hardest part will be choosing what to do. It really does seem that Dubai has it all, a wealth of opportunities to explore and experience.

Dubai really is the city of possibilities and I want to 'Discover All That’s Possible In Dubai'.

  21. Dubai has been at the top of my bucket list for many years now and reading you post has made me want to visit so much more!

Souks, skyscrapers, sand and sea, Dubai really has something for all the family and the possibility of visiting this incredible city is making me super excited.

I'd love the opportunity to win our perfect family holiday in Dubai; a holiday for the four of us, that combines unlimited opportunities for fun and adventure. We'd be able to
escape the ‘day to day’, making memories and recharging our batteries. And it would give us the chance to simply spend our days together as a family, enjoying each other’s company before Jack starts school in September.

There are so many amazing adventures we'd like to experience, but our top 3 would have to be:

1// A day of aquatic fun at Atlantis’ Aquaventure Waterpark to cool off in the Dubai heat. Aquaventure caters for all the family with its record-breaking rides and slides for thrill seekers and the Splashers’ Children’s Play Area, which is a haven for little ones with water cannons, slides and climbing frames.

2 // A once-in-a-lifetime experience at Dolphin Bay. As there’s no age limit, we could enjoy this amazing experience as a family and I can only imagine the joy on the children’s faces when they get up close to these amazing creatures!

3 // Experience the heady heights of Burj Khalifa. We couldn’t visit Dubai without venturing up the tallest building in the World, and although I'm afraid of heights, I’d still feel compelled to visit the observation deck on the 144th floor. As long as I don’t stand too close to the edge, nor look vertically down, I think I’d actually enjoy it.

I'm now off to spend the day daydreaming about Dubai and all it has to offer...

Best of luck with your entry!

  22. I think this is all so very true
Dubai would be perfect - it is for me too
Good luck with your entry and if you win
Make room in your case, and please fit me in!

    1. And vice versa!! Keeping my fingers crossed for now xx

  23. Dubai is such a popular holiday destination and it's not hard to see why, those beaches! Good luck with your entry :)

  24. Wow the Dubai fountain looks absolutely amazing! I would love to go to Dubai just to see that yet there is so much more all in one place – it is almost too hard to imagine so I will have to go there to find out for myself 🙂 The beautiful beach beckons me, incredible concerts and entertainment, retail heaven and then relax and unwind by trying out traditional spa therapies at the hammam! The food in Dubai looks divine and I bet it is delicious. My husband would love the adventure sports, golf courses and falconry. There is something here for everyone. Dubai is my dream destination.

  25. A creative entry that might get first place,
    and maybe me too,
Which would put a smile on my face!

    1. Ha ha! I like that. Let's keep our collective fingers crossed and hope for the best :)

  26. Rolling down sand dunes - what a wonderful dream to have! Surely must be every child and big kids ultimately fun thing to do. One of my earliest family memories is of a trip to Camber Sands (I know I know a million miles away from Dubai) and I loved the feel of the warm sand and playing in the sand dunes and rolling down them - albeit relatively small sand dunes but still oodles of fun when you are a child. Now magnify that dream to adult size and imagine myself in a real desert and wow - truly an ultimate dream! Your poem is great and your ideas have got me dreaming!

  27. I'd love to visit Dubai and explore the old town, take a food tour and try all those amazing delicacies.

  28. I would love to take my grandsons on a Dream Trip to Dubai – a clean, safe, family-friendly holiday destination, with plenty of activities to choose from for any age range. As well as relaxing on the beautiful golden sand of JBR Beach with its warm, calm and shallow waters we would all enjoy a dune-bashing safari followed by a camel ride and BBQ dinner in a Bedouin desert camp.

We would visit the Dubai Museum in the Al Fahidi Fort to learn about life from a bygone era as a contrast to the amazing architecture of the modern city which we could view from the front or rear carriages of the driverless Dubai Metro system and then take it all in from the At The Top observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

The free and impressive Dubai Fountain water, light and music show can be watched from one of many waterfront cafes just outside the Dubai Mall. The malls in Dubai have many family attractions to choose from. The boys could try ice-skating, helped by the ‘penguin pals’, visit the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and also see the giant 155 million year old dinosaur skeleton (DubaiDino), all in the Dubai Mall.

The boys love theme parks and this summer Dubai will open the world’s largest indoor theme park – IMG Worlds of Adventure with four themed zones inside including Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley - Dinosaur Adventure and IMG Boulevard. This will be completely enclosed and temperature-controlled with 1.5 million square feet of entertainment space!

Our only problem will be going home with so much more left for us to see and do in beautiful Dubai

  29. Dubai, is definitely on my Bucket list and somewhere I aspire to take my family! My dream is for me and my family to swim with Dolphins in Dubai (it makes me tear up at the thought!). I would love to do it in a much more natural setting than in a swimming pool and I have heard there are some amazing places to swim with them! I would love to visit Atlantis too as it would be a brilliant day for everyone (and I am a big kid). I also wouldn't mind chilling on the beach with my boys, building sandcastles too. Just heaven!

  30. Lovely way of expressing how much you'd love to visit Dubai. I agree with all your sentiments, it would be a real dream for us to visit and there is just so much to see and do, I'm fairly sure we would fall in love and have to come back for a return visit!

  31. Oh how I loved to read your post
I loved being guided by a great travel host
You've taken me on a journey with you
    what incredible things to do
you've awoken the explorer in me
and now there is so much I have to see
