Giz Gaz Kids Walking Boots by Trespass

There is a reason why my blog is called Rambling Through Parenthood. It started off as a blog about rambling, way before parenthood came into the picture. M and I loved to go rambling in the Lake District. Long walks were a lovely way to let off steam. Clambering up steep inclines was an excellent way to get fit. We walked loads, but managed just a couple of posts on the blog.

Then parenthood happened and the rambling took a back seat. But the blog took off in its new avatar. It became a journal of our ramblings through the maze of parenthood.

The love of a good long walk still burns strong. In M, in me, and I am hoping in my little boy J as well. The time has come to introduce my city-bred boy to the country. Come this summer, we intend to embark once again on our ramblings through the wilderness of the English countryside.

Not before J is properly kitted out. The unreliable British weather necessitates the use of waterproofs and J needs something snug, warm and comfortable to keep him cosy and dry as we explore the Cumbrian fells. Cue Trespass, one of UK’s leading retailers of outdoor clothing.

Trespass have sent J is first pair of walking boots and his first proper waterproof jacket (more about that later).

The Giz Gaz Kids Walking Boots absolutely look the part, exactly like our grown-up walking boots, only in miniature. They are made of Trespass’s very own Tres-Tex fabric technology. It is designed to provide an effective waterproof barrier against wet weather, while keeping feet warm and allowing them to breathe at the same time.

The boots ride up to and slightly beyond J’s little ankles, exactly as good waterproof walking boots are meant to. I love that they have Velcro fastenings; shoelaces can be really tricky when you are little. The double hook and loop straps on each boot mean there is added stability to keep them securely in place.

I am really impressed by the sole of the Giz Gaz boots. The grip looks amazing. With deeps grooves and sturdy ridges, it looks like it will hold well on slippery surfaces. This is so important when you are trying to instil a love of the outdoors in little ones. You don’t want tumbles and falls putting them off.

It is the overall finish and the attention to detail that really stands out with these Trespass boots. Like the blue stitch detail on the black background and the soft internal lining. And that the tongue of the boot is a continuous flap attached to the sides.

J is a size 10.5 for his school shoes. So I went up half a size and ordered a size 29 (UK size 11) for his Giz Gaz boots. They fit well with a pair of walking socks on.

My little boy is so pleased to be wearing his big boots, especially as they look very like his Mum and Dad’s. He is super excited and looking forward to tackling those fells this summer, come rain or shine.

  6. Those look fantastic - and would also make great welly substitutes for my children whose feet pronate. The firm side support would stop their feet going over.
