docrafts Sew & So On Festive Decorations Kit Review & Giveaway

It is less than three months to Christmas and whether you like it or not, the inevitable countdown has begun. So are you the super organised lot that have already started drawing up lists and organising presents and parties. Or are you one of the last minute shoppers dashing around trying to organise your Christmas the night before the big day.

Whatever your style, Christmas decorations are sure to form a big part of your life over the next few weeks. It is okay to dress your tree with shop-bought baubles. But there is no denying the charm of homemade and handcrafted decorations. Especially when they are so easy to make with a little help from a Festive Decorations Kit by Sew & So On from docrafts.

docrafts Sew & So On Festive Decorations Kit
I had the opportunity to hone my sewing skills over the course of a few hours using the Sew & So On kit. Yes, that is all the time it takes to create these crafting marvels. I ended up with five rather cute festive decorations that will occupy pride of place on my Christmas tree this year. I made two stuffed hearts, a candy cane with bow, a toadstool and a stocking with my docrafts kit.

The kit is quite self-sufficient and very easy to use. Each piece of material, be it cloth, ribbon, lace or felt, comes cut to size and shape. All you need to do is thread your needle and start stitching.

The instructions are included with the kit. They are pictorial and easy enough to follow. They advised the use of a glue gun at one stage of making the candy cane. But I soldiered on with a needle and thread, and the result is just as good.

So whether you are a pro craftsperson or just an amateur like me with rusty sewing fingers, it really does not matter. With the Sew & So On Festive Decorations Kit from docrafts you will end up with five dainty decorative pieces that are sure to impress.

You could try a kit for yourself. Or just pick one up as a present for somebody who loves to craft. Or who is willing to try.

  14. I love the way a Christmas tree starts out as a mere ornament, an image plucked from a medley of catalogue pictures and shop displays, but slowly becomes a visual timeline of your life and relationships - baby handprints and glitter-smeared baubles jostle with items collected from different countries, different friends. The more personal it becomes the more I enjoy the set-up each year.

My last housemate had come back to visit (as she'd married and moved away) she thought my tree looked bare as I couldn't afford anything to top it off at the time, about 30 minutes after she left there was a knock at my door and it was my friend with an angel. 15 years later, the angel still takes pride of place on my tree and brings back lovely memories
