Pay It Forward

Call me naive, call me simple, call me a dreamer. Call me what you like, but there is no taking away from the fact that I am a socialist at heart. I believe in kindness, in equality and in justice for all. I may not have millions to give away in philanthropy, but I can always do my little bit to try and make the world a slightly better place.

If each one of us did that one little thing, that one little random act of kindness to a total stranger, who knows, the world might just end up being a better place.

There has been a 'Pay-It-Forward’ Kindness initiative doing the rounds on social media since the beginning of this year. I believe it started off on FaceBook, but has been neatly adapted by us bloggers to fit what we do best. Write blog-posts. The basic idea remains the same, to do a random act of kindness in the hope that it will make somebody's day. When they are least expecting it.

I came across this wonderful initiative on two lovely blogs that I was fortunate enough to read: You Baby Me Mummy and Crafts on Sea.

So here is the nitty-gritty of how the Pay-It-Forward works: the first 5 people who comment on this post with “I’m in” will receive a small gift from me at some point in this calendar year.  It could be anything, a card, a little present, flowers, a book, anything. It will be a complete surprise.  You won’t know what it is or when it will arrive. But one day this year, a little something in the post will make you smile.

Now here is what you need to do in turn. If you are one of my five chosen ones, you too must make the same offer on your blog or FB status to pay it forward and spread good cheer.

Let us hope that all our random little acts of kindness spread far and wide. Let us hope we are all nicer to each other. That we are more loving, more kind and more generous. And that we can make someone's day just by making them smile.
