Diwali - The Festival of Lights

Writing for National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) 2013

Our Diwali celebrations draw to a close today. We have had a fantastic five days of festive fun.

We have been lighting tealights on our windowsill in the pretty holders we crafted this week.

We have hung a string of icicle lights across one of our windows. These come on every evening and are a source of much amusement for J. I intend to leave these hung up even after Diwali, so that's one less thing to do in the run-up to Christmas!

We tied up our rocket-inspired paper lantern on one of the curtain rods. That was another creation that came out of our new craft box. Watch this space on how that came about. Unfortunately, Baba (Daddy) could not find a suitable source of light to light it up. But that didn't matter too much. It has enough sparkle to glitter and shine on its own.

I am not that keen on fireworks.  The smelly smoke does not do me any favours. But I was not about to let my prejudices spoil J's fun. So we bought him a couple of little boxes of sparklers. This was his first time holding a lit sparkler in his little hands. He absolutely loved it. So much, that he was asking for 'more' when they were 'all gone'!
I hope J has enjoyed this festival of lights. And I hope I am succeeding in my attempt to create some lovely childhood memories for my son.
